01Jun Man vs Machine No commentsPosted by

Since the legend of John Henry – that steel drive’n man that went up against the steam drill, the competition of man against machine has been a common theme across the ages.

Today’s “machine” is Artificial Intelligence. We’ve all heard about the double edged sword AI wields. It’s here to make our lives easier and simpler, with the possible risk of ending human civilization. The risk to benefit ratio is a bit high for me, but in the world of content production AI can do wonders. I’ve been using AI via ChatGPT and Bard to research and rough-out content. The time it saves can be applied to what humans do best, creative content. While writing this post is enjoyable and I choose to do it myself the old fashioned way, technical writing is best left for the machines. At least for me. But let’s not forget John Henry. As the story goes, he beat the machine only to die of a heart attack. Was this a prophetic warning? Let me know what you think.
